**Punjab** has become the first Indian state to introduce **Artificial Intelligence (AI)** as a regular mainstream subject for **Classes I to XII** under the **Sarbat.AI** initiative.
The program integrates digital concepts directly into the school curriculum to build technological skills among young learners.
It aims to create an AI-literate and ethically responsible student community by giving equal access to modern tech education across the state.

The state will roll out the program in stages, starting with **Classes VIII to XII** in Computer Science, followed by **Classes I to VII** with basic AI lessons.
Experts designed the curriculum using international best practices from **Singapore**, **Finland**, the **UAE**, and the **US**, while following **UNESCO's Ethical AI Framework**.
Learning takes place through live online sessions, recorded video lectures, practical project work, regular assessments, and a custom **Learning Management System (LMS)**.
The project covers **25,172 schools** and **31.5 lakh students**, with **12,424 Computer Science teachers** trained initially and over **2 lakh teachers** scheduled for future upskilling.

This initiative helps students master essential skills in AI, creative innovation, and digital technology for future career opportunities.
The policy positions **Punjab** as a leader in digital schooling while bridging the educational gap between rural and urban classrooms.
