The Border Roads Organisation celebrated the 37th Raising Day of Project UDAYAK at Doomdooma in Assam.

Project UDAYAK is a specialized territorial wing of the Border Roads Organisation that builds and maintains road networks in remote areas of Northeast India.
The unit currently manages more than 1,457 km of strategic roads across difficult terrains.
The government established the project in 1989 and it marked its 37th year of operation in 2026.
The project functions directly under the Border Roads Organisation, which is controlled by the Ministry of Defence.

The project operates in the easternmost parts of Arunachal Pradesh and selected districts of Assam.
Key operational districts include Anjaw, Lohit, Dibang Valley, Longding, Tirap, and Changlang.
It manages critical road infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control with China and the Indo-Myanmar Border.
The unit is actively building major border fencing infrastructure along the Indo-Myanmar Border to stop illegal cross-border movement and insurgency.
During 2025, the project finished building 12 strategic bridges, one major road, and a helipad to help the Indian Army move quickly.
The project connects with local tribal communities by organizing medical camps, cleanliness drives, and road safety programs in border villages.

The project improves border security by allowing fast movement of soldiers and military equipment along sensitive international boundaries.
It connects isolated border villages to markets, schools, and hospitals, which helps local people earn a better living and improves the regional economy.
