The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare started countrywide celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA).
The celebrations are being held under the special theme of 10 Years of PMSMA - A Decade of Care.

The Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) is a national flagship health program created to offer guaranteed, complete, and fully free antenatal care to all pregnant women across the nation.
The scheme works through a single-window healthcare delivery system and serves as a major pillar of the government approach under the RMNCH+A strategy.
The central government officially launched the scheme on June 9, 2016, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) designs, funds, and executes this nationwide health program.
The main aim of the scheme is to lower preventable maternal and infant deaths by finding and managing high-risk pregnancies early.
The program ensures that every expectant mother receives at least one specialist health check-up during her second or third trimester.

Special healthcare sessions take place at designated government health facilities on the 9th day of every month to give predictable care.
Expectant mothers get a complete package of free services during a single visit, including check-ups, counseling, medicines, tests, and one ultrasound scan.
Private doctors and specialists voluntarily help at government hospitals to solve the shortage of medical experts.
Healthcare workers place a green sticker on the MCP card of women who have normal pregnancies for routine tracking.
Health workers place a red sticker on cards for women with high-risk pregnancies to ensure close monitoring and timely hospital referrals.

The e-PMSMA platform digitally records and tracks every high-risk pregnancy through online portals for real-time monitoring by medical staff.
Hospitals can arrange up to four PMSMA sessions per month to make sure that no beneficiary misses out on timely care.
The tracking system follows the health of both mother and newborn up to 45 days after delivery for complete protection.
Financial support for travel is provided under JSSK to help pregnant women in remote areas reach hospitals without trouble.
