Why in News

Severe earthquakes struck Venezuela one after another and caused massive destruction.
To help the affected people, the Government of India quickly launched an emergency humanitarian mission named Operation Amistad.

Operation Amistad is a fast-tracked and high-capacity Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission.
It shows a major strategic and diplomatic effort by India to send emergency help to another country facing a huge natural disaster.
India is the donor nation and is sending help through the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Armed Forces.
Venezuela is the recipient nation that is receiving this disaster relief.
The mission aims to support search and rescue work, give emergency medical care, and provide relief in the earthquake areas by working with local authorities.

India used two heavy-lift Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 Globemaster transport planes to deliver supplies quickly across continents.
A 41-member expert rescue team was sent to the disaster zone, and it includes disaster response experts and military medical professionals.
The transport planes carried 30 tons of relief supplies, which include emergency shelters, blankets, and survival gear.
The mission also brought 6 tons of targeted medicines and specialized medical tools to treat severe crush injuries, bone fractures, and trauma.
The Indian Army deployed a self-reliant field hospital unit that can perform complex emergency surgeries and set up local medical triage units.
India also sent two BHISHM ( Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita and Maitri ) cubes, which are portable modern hospitals that can be set up in minutes without needing local buildings.

This mission proves that India acts as a dependable global first responder during international disasters.
