- The NDMA wants to shift the focus from simple post-disaster relief to long-term resilience as a key part of national growth.
- The new planning system uses two main tools: hazard-specific plans where many ministries team up for one threat, and ministry-level plans where each office prepares for risks related to its work.
National Disaster Management Authority NDMA Overview
- The NDMA was set up under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, as the main official body for disaster management in India.
- The Prime Minister of India acts as the ex-officio Chairperson of NDMA, and the board includes nine other members along with one Vice-Chairperson.
