Native Habitat and Geographic Distribution

  • This herb grows naturally in the cold alpine and sub-alpine regions of the Himalayas at elevations between 2,700 and 4,500 meters.
  • It prefers moist and rocky slopes facing northwest with porous sandy-clay soil that helps its roots spread.
  • The plant is distributed across Himalayan states in India including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim.
  • It also grows in neighboring regions like Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Tibet, Western China, and Northern Myanmar.

Conservation Status

Key Morphological Features
