Indian Army Unveils VIJAY Roadmap for High-Tech Transformation

Right after taking office as the **31st Chief of the Army Staff (COAS)**, **General Dhiraj Seth** launched an ambitious modernization plan named the **VIJAY roadmap**.

The **VIJAY roadmap** serves as an extensive strategic doctrine to modernize the combat capabilities of the Indian Army.
Inspired by the Defense Minister's vision of the **Decade of Transformation (2023-2032)**, this plan moves the army from traditional tactics to a digitized multi-domain fighting framework.
The **Chief of the Army Staff (COAS)** directed the development of this framework, which all operational commands will execute across the nation.

It aims to build a technology-driven force capable of operating across conventional, space, cyber, and electronic warfare environments.
The plan speeds up restructuring of forces, replaces outdated hardware with modern weapons, and prepares troops for emerging security threats.
It strives to reach the core objective of **Winning Our Wars with Indigenous Solutions**, which cuts reliance on foreign supply chains.

**V - Vigilance and Readiness**: Focuses on continuous border monitoring using modern sensors, night-vision systems, and quick response mechanisms.
**I - Innovation and Transformation**: Encourages the adoption of drones, satellite tech, artificial intelligence, and digital warfare tools in military operations.
**J - Jointness and Integration**: Promotes close coordination between the Army, Navy, Air Force, and civilian authorities through integrated theater commands.
**A - Atmanirbharta (Self-Reliance)**: Focuses on developing and procuring defense equipment locally to strengthen domestic manufacturing.
**Y - Yodha First**: Keeps soldiers at the heart of reforms by improving training, healthcare, career growth, and welfare support for veterans and **Veer Naris**.

It connects drones, satellite systems, and battlefield sensors into one shared network, which speeds up decision-making and improves target accuracy.
It strengthens the **JAI (Jointness, Atmanirbharta, Innovation)** vision so that the Army, Navy, and Air Force operate as an integrated force in future conflicts.
