The Green Hydrogen Certification Portal of India (GHCI) was recently launched by the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy.
This launch took place during a national workshop on the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

The portal was developed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
It supports transparent certification and regulatory compliance under the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India.

Launched in 2023, the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) aims to make India a global leader in clean hydrogen.
The mission helps enhance industrial competitiveness, reduce fossil fuel imports, and promote long-term energy security, sustainability, and self-reliance.
It is built on three pillars, which include demand creation, supply-side incentives, and enabling ecosystem development.
By 2030, the mission aims to achieve 5 MMT of green hydrogen production.
This production will be supported by 125 GW of renewable energy capacity.
The mission aims to attract ₹8 lakh crore in investment and reduce emissions by 50 MMT CO2 annually while boosting energy independence.
Key initiatives under the mission include the SIGHT Programme, standards development, research roadmaps, and financial incentives.
State-level adoption includes 6 States that have notified dedicated hydrogen policies.
Additionally, 7 States have integrated hydrogen into existing energy frameworks, and 4 States are currently in the pipeline.
The mission is expected to drive decarbonisation, job creation, technological innovation, and indigenous manufacturing.
