About Swayam GPSC

Swayam GPSC is an independent, community run platform for candidates preparing for the Gujarat Public Service Commission exams. Everything on it is free to read and free to use. It is built by aspirants, for aspirants.

What this platform is

Swayam GPSC brings together the three things a GPSC candidate otherwise has to assemble from scattered sources: an honest estimate of how a written paper actually went, a daily current affairs feed that is mapped to the GPSC syllabus rather than to a newspaper front page, and structured practice for the Mains answer writing that decides the final merit list.

The primary language is Gujarati, because that is the language most candidates for this exam study in. Every current affairs article, every exam guide and every trust page on this site exists in Gujarati and in English, at two separate addresses, so neither language is a translation afterthought.

What you can do here

  • Exam score calculator: enter the options you marked on your OMR sheet and see your score computed against the answer keys published by several coaching institutes, with negative marking and cancelled questions handled the way the commission handles them. No sign in, no account, nothing leaves your device unless you choose to save it.
  • Rank and percentile estimate: once enough candidates have saved a score for a paper, the platform shows where a given score sits in the distribution, broken down by category and gender.
  • Daily current affairs: news analysis and editorial analysis published every working day in Gujarati and English, each item mapped to the part of the GPSC syllabus it belongs to, with key takeaways and previous year question links.
  • Daily quiz and weekly flashcards: retrieval practice generated from the same current affairs, so revision does not need a second source.
  • Study library: save any article and read it again later, including offline, synced across the devices you are signed in on.
  • SAWP, the Swayam Answer Writing Program: GPSC Mains question papers, answer booklets and model answers, for the stage where most preparation stops short.

Who runs it

Swayam GPSC was founded and is run by Tanmay Thaker, with a small team that handles selection, syllabus mapping, the Gujarati edition and the revision layer. Articles carry the organisation as the author rather than an individual byline, because no single person writes one from start to finish. The reasoning behind that choice, and who does which part, is set out on the editorial team page.

What it costs, and how it stays free

Nothing on this site is behind a payment. There is no subscription, no paid tier and no paywalled article. Signing in with Google is required only for the Mains answer writing program, for saving articles to a library that follows you across devices, and for downloading a current affairs PDF. Everything else, including the score calculator, works without an account.

Candidate email addresses are never sold, rented or shared with coaching institutes. That is stated in full in the privacy policy and it is not a policy we intend to revisit.

What Swayam GPSC is not

  • It is not the Gujarat Public Service Commission and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the commission in any way. The commission publishes at gpsc.gujarat.gov.in and that notification is always the final word.
  • It is not a coaching institute. There are no classes, no admissions and no fees.
  • It is not a news organisation. Current affairs here is selection, compilation, syllabus mapping and Gujarati adaptation of reporting published elsewhere. No original reporting is claimed.
  • It is not a guarantee. A predicted rank is an estimate computed from the scores candidates have chosen to save on this platform, not an official result.
